Generation of Z Edinburgh Fringe | 2014 Sell Out Show
GlamArtist Agency have been part of an experienced team led by Shay Lawrence (Senior Prosthetics Artist, The Hobbit- The Desolation of Smaug, Spartacus) creates a frighteningly real army of the undead utilizing sculpted prosthetics, explosive squibs, rotting zombie flesh, and blood. Lots of blood.
The set is the biggest character in the Generation of Z 2014 Fringe Festival show. Crafted with gritty realism and composed of multiple dynamic spaces, the fallen military facility is a nightmarish labyrinth.
Secret doors and hidden passageways mean the space is continually evolving and unfolding as the audience move through it. Moving from the exterior refugee camp and into the facility, our audience travel through medical bays, communication rooms and quarantine cages. The facility’s brutal history is unveiled and evidence of carnage and disaster is unlocked at every turn.
Gen Z’s challenge has been to create a believable world, designed with ‘film-set’ level realism, but one which our audience are already familiar with and passionate about. The aim was to create an environment that echos the design quality and aesthetics of video games like ‘The Last Of Us’ and films like ‘28 Days Later’.
A mixture of GlamArtist Agency Edinburgh Pro Team, Semi Pro and students from our School were recruited to bring the show to life. Each evening our team was led by prosthetic expert Calum MacDonald and Pro Team Artist Carol Dinwoodie to create Zombies worthy of starring in a Hollywood Blockbuster. Each evening around 25 Zombies were created using SFX and Makeup effect skills taught at our Makeup School. The whole team did and amazing job and I would like to give a special shout out to our Semi Pro Team’s Jann Arpino for her enthusiasm, professionalism and dedicating so much of her time to the Generation of Z Team.
